About Anoushka
I’m Anoushka, a registered nutritional therapist, functional medicine practitioner, health coach and author based near Totnes in Devon.
For more than twelve years, I have supported women experiencing digestive problems, fatigue, hormonal symptoms and complex or persistent health concerns. Gut health remains central to my practice, but my work has increasingly evolved to reflect the wider realities of women’s lives—including stress, sleep, emotional wellbeing, motherhood and the many demands placed on the body over time.
I have a particular interest in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery and the years of motherhood that follow. Becoming a mother myself deepened my understanding of how profoundly pregnancy, birth, disrupted sleep and caring for a child can affect a woman’s physical and emotional health—and how often her own needs are pushed aside.
You do not need to be a mother to work with me. I support women at many different stages of life, and every plan is shaped around the individual rather than a fixed protocol.
My approach
I take time to understand the full picture behind your symptoms: your health history, digestion, hormones, nutrient status, stress, sleep, relationship with food and the practical realities of your life.
Depending on your needs, our work may include personalised nutrition, functional testing, carefully selected supplements and health coaching. But I do not believe that improving your health should require rigid rules, constant restriction or an overwhelming list of things to do.
My aim is to help you understand your body and identify the changes most likely to make a meaningful difference—while ensuring that the plan feels realistic and sustainable.
Food is an important part of my work. I want healthy eating to feel nourishing, pleasurable and grounding, rather than clinical or joyless. Recommendations should work in a real kitchen and a real life, whether you have plenty of time to cook or are trying to feed yourself while holding a baby.
Why gut health remains central
Digestive symptoms can affect almost every aspect of daily life, from energy and mood to confidence and freedom around food.
I support women with concerns including bloating, abdominal discomfort, reflux, altered bowel habits, food sensitivities and SIBO, as well as those whose digestive health may be contributing to wider symptoms.
Rather than focusing only on eliminating foods or suppressing discomfort, I look at possible underlying influences such as digestion, gut motility, the microbiome, nutrient status, hormones, stress and the nervous system.
Supporting women through motherhood
Pregnancy and motherhood can place extraordinary demands on the body.
Nutrient depletion, birth recovery, breastfeeding, broken sleep and the mental load of caregiving can leave women feeling exhausted, foggy, anxious, digestively unsettled or simply unlike themselves. Yet these experiences are often dismissed as an unavoidable part of becoming a mother.
My work supports women to replenish and rebuild their health in a way that acknowledges the reality of motherhood. This may begin during pregnancy or the early postpartum months, but it is never too late to seek support. Many women still feel depleted several years after giving birth.
Qualifications and experience
I trained in nutritional therapy and have continued to develop my work through further study in functional medicine, digestive health, women’s health and health coaching.
I am also the author of The Anti-Inflammatory Plan, which grew from my longstanding interest in how food, digestion and lifestyle can influence inflammation and overall wellbeing.
My clinical experience has taught me that no two women arrive with exactly the same story. I combine evidence-informed practice with curiosity, compassion and a practical understanding of how difficult change can feel when you are already exhausted or overwhelmed.
Outside the clinic
I live in the Devon countryside with my partner and our young son.
Outside work, I am happiest cooking, growing food at our allotment, walking, practising yoga or spending time in nature. These things also shape the way I think about health: not as a pursuit of perfection, but as something built gradually through nourishment, connection, movement, rest and the environments we create around ourselves.
